I fought the wind for a bit last year too - then I bought a cheap ( 65 bucks Canadian) small windshield - used lots of locktite to insure that the mounting bolts didn't slip and presto - wind buffeting was eliminated! ( and I think the bike looks a bit better with a shield as well)
I walked into a wrecker and he had a new shield hanging on the wall - checked to make sure the handle bar mounts were the correct size and away I went.
Not much of a custom job - but I hung my tool bag inside the shield so that I could get to the bits and peices a bit easier -
These two additions made a world of diffence for me.
The debate about the " size" of our favorites has me puzzled. I am 6'4" and I have absolutely no complain or concern about the comfort and size of my Savage. Other folks seem to find the bike ackward to ride because of the riding position . Guess it must be a function of the ratio of leg length/arm length/body length and the set distances between the seat/bars/foot pegs.
Keep the rubber side down
